Scope and content

509 1st Avenue South, former home of Henry Z. and Elizabeth Mitchell. It was open as a tea room in June 1922 by Ruth Mitchell, granddaughter of Henry Z. and Elizabeth Mitchell.
Scrapbook contains newspapers clippings about and from the Grandmother's Garden, as well as about events and gatherings held there. In addition, there are images of the home, both inside and it, and of people who visited.
Dating back to 1856, the home was demolished in 1957 as part of the expansion of the St. Cloud State campus. Garvey Commons today sits on the site of Grandmother's Garden.
